Pam Birak, Board Member, RTC-SRA
Pamela Birak is a Research Environmental Engineer with RTI’s Center for Environmental Analysis. Her primary areas of interest include emissions modeling, multimedia fate and transport modeling, and exposure assessment. She is also interested in the application of statistical techniques to characterize uncertainty and variability in environmental risk analysis. Ms. Birak earned her masters degree in environmental systems engineering from Clemson University and also hold a bachelors degree in chemistry. For the past five years, she has completed several national scale risk assessments to support regulatory development for several EPA Offices (Office of Solid Waste, Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards, and Office of Water). She has also conducted research for EPA’s National Center for Environmental Assessment, developing new algorithms for estimating the biotransfer of chemicals into beef and milk. She began has career working in the pharmaceutical industry, conducting site-specific risk assessments to support air permitting and RCRA remediation projects.
