A quorum of officers was present:  Paul Schlosser, Elaina Kenyon, Woody Setzer, Bob Hettes, Jeff Hayward, and Shawn Sager.  Jane Staveley and Damian Shea also attended.

 

Agenda

Seminars & Such

First seminar:  March 5 at CIIT.  Business meeting after the next seminar.

 

To determine interest from members, a questionnaire will be prepared to see what sort of interest there is.

 

Potential topics:

  1. Inhalation exposure at Ground Zero.  How do you tackle the problem?  Elaina will check with Dan Costa's and Mary Jane's Groups to see if anyone would speak to this.
  2. Feed lot regulations:  New ones coming out.  Regulating these similarly to area sources.  Also new effluent guidelines.
  3. Hog Waste:   Jeff Hayward to find names of potential speakers.
  4. Pharmaceutical toxicology:  How is this different from pesticide registration.
 

Participation in Carolinas SETAC

Dates were announced by Jane Staveley and location and meeting agenda discussed.

 

Recruiting New Officers

Make a pitch at the beginning of each seminar.

Focus on faculty from universities, then students.

Faculty contacts identified were:  Chris Frey, Jonathon Weiner, Doug Crawford-Brown, Zach Pichard.

 

Question:  What service does local chapter provide?  Seminars and workshops are the primary function. 

  

Fall Workshop

Emerging Environmental Contaminants.

Assume 1.5 days; 3 sessions

Focus:

  1. CDC report card
  2. Personal care products
  3. Fire retardants
  4. Antibiotics

Produce a paper/poster for SETAC and SRA national meetings.

Schedule for late September or early October.
